White on White

Yes, I know, I have far too many colourful things to consider having an all white house, but it's images like this that make me long for clear, plain white goodness. We'll see.

Uh-oh: New Glasses Site

This website looks pretty dangerous. After investing in a new pair of glasses recently, I have become addicted to the idea of having a couple of spares. Nerd chic at its best.

Gallery Walls

More and more gallery walls seem to be taunting me. We're not allowed to put any hooks or sticky 3M hooks on our walls (except, ahem, the three that I've already put up), so a gallery wall would seem an excessive violation of the silly, silly rules. Gah. So pretty and delicious.

Portable Mini Houses

These super cute tiny houses are executed perfectly: such lovely little morsels of architecture! Loving the wooden panels and up-high bookshelf. Dreamy. (Thanks to Ali for the heads-up!)

Statue of Liberty: Like You've Never Seen Her Before!

Mind-blowing. The Retronaut's done it again! What an extraordinary image - love the bowler hats in the foreground, too.

Tokyo Zakka Shops

Loved this picture from Upon a Fold - took me right back to lots of zakka shops I visited in Japan and so many swoony bits and pieces I couldn't fit in my bags!

Beautiful Book Covers

The lovely Thrifted Treasure recommended I check out this lovely blog, and what a pleasant surprise! These F. Scott Fitzgerald book covers are so stunning - the shiny, deco design is just perfect.

Words

WORDS from Everynone on Vimeo.

One of my favourite podcasts, Radiolab, recently featured this beautiful short film about words, noise and nature. I know, I've been blogging a lot about short films lately - I don't know why - but this one's a keeper. I should warn you - this isn't 100% worksafe (a split second is a bit risque), so please be careful when and where you play it.

Oh, and it's my birthday today, so I feel like I can be totally self-indulgent! Hope you enjoy the Words!

An Elegant, Modern House

Isn't this apartment so bright and airy? While scrolling through these images, I thought two things simultaneously, "I need more display nooks" and "It's pretty lame to think about things like needing more display nooks." Anyhoo. Displaying things in nooks, whether you'd like to make that a life priority, does look pretty cool.

New Stationery Binge

So yeah, I caved and went to Kinokuniya the other night and didn't leave empty-handed. Oops. I haven't been there for a while, and they've changed the stationery lines they hold. This is bad news for the actual writing paper section - lots of bright colours and ugly designs - but excellent news for the mini notelets section. Cute, zakka-style notelets and to-do lists abound!
All blurry images by me. Sorry. Stationery-excitement jitters.

Also, I should let you know that I've decided to put a few ads on the old blog. I have written about and highly praised the Book Depository before, and wholeheartedly endorse their service. Becoming an affiliate partner means that you can click through and buy things from my blog if you'd like. Or you can choose to ignore it all together - whatever is comfy for you.

History of The Beatles as told by their hair

Yeah ok, I'm a Beatles nerd. Loved this poster with much glee and happiness. (It's also pretty accurate!)

It's (Not That) Complicated

OK, so I watched It's Complicated the other night, and while it wasn't the Best Movie Ever, it was styled super well. Check out the beautiful kitchen and garden. Not really my style - I could never live with that much beige - but it was so pretty and practical-looking. The only irritating part was that part of the film focussed on Meryl Streep wanting to 'build the kitchen she's always wanted' - whaaa?!

This is Where We Live

This Is Where We Live from 4th Estate on Vimeo.

This is a gorgeous, stop-motion short film about the publisher 4th Estate. Beautifully crafted - so much lovely attention to detail. Thanks to Ali for the heads-up on this one!

Blue Mountains House

Since the Pal and I got engaged, I haven't shared anything about our wedding. But we're just back from a beautiful, winter weekend up in the Blue Mountains where we'll be getting married later this year. My grandparents have graciously allowed us to tie the knot on their property, and here are some photos of the garden. It's winter now, so everything's quite bare, but imagine lots of colour and flowers everywhere. Welcome to a little tour!
The old chestnut tree I used to climb
The gravel driveway

The clay tennis court (where we'll put a marquee)
The barn-style garage
This is where the ceremony will take place...whee!!!
It's been wonderful to take these photos and see the place through different eyes. Don't worry, I won't post hundreds of wedding details, but the odd one might slip through :)

House Doctor

A lovely friend of mine introduced me to House Doctor. It's hard to explain how much I need to move to Denmark right now, but these are some shots which might go some way to explaining it.
